Cat Harbor State Marine Conservation Area (Catalina Island)
Important: As of December 19, 2012 new MPA regulations are in effect for
the Northern California coast from the Oregon/California border to Point Arena.
Management Area: Southern California (Pt. Conception southward)
Boundaries: This area includes the waters below the mean high tide line on the west side of Catalina Island northward of a straight line connecting Pin Rock (33° 25.50' N. lat.118° 30.28' W. long.) and Cat Head Point (33° 25.32' N. lat.118° 30.76' W. long.).
Recreational Fishing
Allowed Species: Squid by hook-and-line. Lobster and sea urchin. Finfish by hook-and-line or by spearfishing.
Prohibited Species: All marine aquatic plants. All invertebrates EXCEPT squid, lobster, and sea urchin.
Commercial Fishing
Allowed Species: Sea cucumber by diving only. Spiny lobster and sea urchin. Finfish aquaculture pursuant to required state permits.
Prohibited Species: All marine aquatic plants. Invertebrates EXCEPT sea cucumber, spiny lobster, and sea urchin. All finfish, except finfish associated with permitted aquaculture facilities.
