Natural Community Conservation Planning (NCCP)
Scientific Input
The Natural Community Conservation Planning (NCCP) Act requires that NCCP plans include independent scientific input and analysis to assist CDFW and the plan participants in creating a scientifically-based plan. CDFW has developed a guidance paper (PDF) for the NCCP independent science advisory process. The guidance will help local planners and stakeholders understand and design an effective science advisory process that will meet the NCCP standard. The guidance represents a compilation of the most effective approaches used to date.CDFW and its local planning partners have received independent scientific input for a number of planning areas, and other efforts are currently underway.
