Natural Communities

Natural Communities (NCs) have been considered part of the Natural Heritage conservation triad, along with plants and animals of conservation significance, since the state inception of the Natural Heritage program in 1979. The links below provide information on how the Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) is updating the way Natural Communities are classified and mapped in California.
